DIY FURNITURE

I just think these pieces of furniture are beautiful, their artistic with a rustic edge. I wish I was good with tools so I could make these kinds of things, maybe some youtube tutorials and a trip to B&Q is in order.

WHY SHAZAM WAS INVENTED

Quentin doing what he does best makes Django an amazing film and probably one of the best films I will see this year. I will admit there was a lull around the middle when I was looking at my watch to see how long there was left but when it picks up again, my god does it pick up. What I most liked about this film is the amount of times I wanted to break the cardinal rule of the cinema and reach for my phone with the sole purpose of getting shazam out. The soundtrack was just amazing, it was surprising, thoughtful and interesting. Here are just a few that stood out to me and are now uploaded to my iTunes.

BUT I REALLY WANT IT

Here are some things that I have coveted over the last couple of weeks...

Short and Sweet post today as I am hanging out of my ass.

Dress - Misguided
Bralet - eBay
T-Shirt - Topshop
Shoes - eBay
Belt - ASOS
Earrings - Topshop
Ring - Kukee

I think this will be a regular post because it gives you a bigger in sight into what I like and my style. I'm like most of you I'm sure and spend way to much time on the internet looking at things I shouldn't buy, its like window shopping for people who like to stay in their pyjamas all day, this was why the internet was invented.

TOTALLY ADDICTED TO BOOTS

I can not be trusted in Boots, its all the beautiful packaging and pretty colours they draw you in with their hints of the next best thing. I honestly only went in to find the perfume I plan to get next, its just so much easier to try them out in Boots rather than the perfume shop, which is where I will probably buy it, my bad, its amour amour incase you were wondering. Anyway as I've gone off subject here, thats exactly what I did in Boots, attention span on a 3 year old me. So I started to look didn't I, then I started to swatch and my hand began to look like a child's colouring book then before I knew it I've bought 2 lip products, 1 nail varnish (it was 3 for 2 what else was I supposed to do? ) a colour tattoo cream pot and a mascara. Now this doesn't seem to bad I suppose until I get home and remember how much makeup I already own, feeling a little bit guilty now, but lets face it there is no way I am taking any of it back so I justify...

My mascara is going to run out at some point and this Maybeline Rocket was on offer now, a whole £2 off. Its coming into spring this Kate Rimmel Lipstick in No. 16 will be perfect for then, its so pretty and nourishing, my lips need this. The same goes for the Rimmel Apocalips in Luna, its amazingly pigmented in a coral colour that brightens my face, I even used this bad boy the very same hour and its still on now. Talking about staying power the Maybeline Colour Tattoo is called Permanent Taupe, talk about something thats gonna last me a long time. The nail varnish isn't something I usually go for but i'm glad I did its such a subtle pink its perfect for the transition into spring.

I bet your wondering why I only said 2 lip products earlier, thats because the 3rd one is actually from Primark, now this was an impulse buy and at £1.50 I admit I was weak. This product does remind me a bit to much of a felt-tip pen and I'm not just talking about the smell but it stays on and I think it could be a really good base I just hope it doesn't burn my lips off, fingers crossed.  I hope you enjoyed this post.

PROCRASTINATION AT ITS BEST

Cleaning your makeup brushes is one of my worst beauty habits, in the fact that I don't tend to do it as much as I should. Doing it today though was very therapeutic, maybe it was because I was putting off writing my dissertation, who knows. Using baby shampoo worked wonders, it lathers up really nice, isn't to harsh on my brushes which is good seeing as it has to go on baby's heads and all that. I was very impressed as this was the first time I used baby shampoo to do this, I had always used brush shampoo from elf before but I wont be doing that again as this works so much better. I found a really handy drying place for all my brushes. This is just a box i keep my hair products in and its perfect because it doesn't make the brushes go all misshapen which happens when there left on a flat surface and I cant have that happening to my real techniques babies. I hope you found this helpful and will post again soon.

OOTD #1

Just a quick one, showing you all what I decided to wear to brave out the snow today. Not one of my best choices due to the shoes not having any grip but my ass did not meet the pavement so that was a positive.

I paired skinny jeans with a grey peplum top, a khaki coat and my massive cream snood for this casual but not, look, if thats even a thing? The boots were ones I got from a knock off place in town, you know the ones, they have some sort of fishnet in the window and a velvet matching track suit. Well if you brave that shop it could surprise you, it did me when i got those shoes boots for £20.

Scarf - River Island
Top - Topshop
Jeans - H&M
Coat - Primark
Laptop Case - ASOS
Bag - eBay

I hope you liked this outfit of the day and hopefully there are more to come.

NYX MATTE LIP CREAMS

It's not lipstick, nor is it lip gloss. It's like nothing you've experienced before. It's a lipstick cream that goes on silky but looks soft matte. These long-lasting lip creams come in 11 different colors that will be sure to keep your lips moisturized and colorful! I love them, the staying power of these lip creams are amazing, I even worked out the other day and they stayed on through that and the shower afterward, and yet when you want them to come off it just takes a bit of moisture a wipe of tissue and hey presto, its gone. I may deviate from these and find my "new favourite lipstick" but i will always come back, the diversity of colours and the finish on these creams are just to die for. I cannot talk them up enough.

Above is my collection from left to right it goes:

C02 STOCKHOLM
C06 ISTANBUL
C08 SAN PAULO
C09 ABU DAHBI
C10 MONTE CARLO
C11 MILAN

I plan to get antwerp, I had it before but I lost it :( a very sad moment in my life. I will also grab another Monte Carlo because I don't know if you can see but its cracked, I will learn to never take these out on the town with me again there just to precious. I bought mine on ebay (link below) where they were relatively cheap I had to buy them here because I live in the UK and no shops that I have seen sell them. I hope you try these out, you will not regret it.

DIY STAG PICTURE

This is a really nice piece that I made for my cousin for Christmas, it reminds me of something you could find in the NEXT home range, its rustic and very on trend for the current design climate.

You will need:
- A Frame
- Plain White Card
- Rustic Paper, I used a Tim Holtz book but you can use any mixed media.
- Scissors
- Glue
- Ruler
- Pencil

Draw out the silhouette of a stag on plain white card, I just copied a picture from google.
Cut this out using scissors or a craft knife, making sure the lines are smooth.
Taking your rustic paper ( or mixed media ) cut these into strips about an inch thick.
Glue them horizontally onto another piece of white card making sure that when you layer on the silhouette of the stag there is no white space.
Once all of the mixed media is glued down glue the stag on top.
Trim the outer edges if needed to fit it into the frame.
Your done, I hope you like the outcome.

BRIGHT NAIL TUTORIAL

Just having fun with my friends fake nails...

I began by painting each nail a different colour, all of them bright, then using white and yellow nail art pens that I got really cheap off of eBay, the link is at the bottom of the page, I created random patterns on each different nail; clouds, flowers, pinstripes, pop art and her initial. With the pop art nail I had to use nail art tools because the nib of the black was blocked and I didn't have a needle to unblock it.

I hope you enjoyed this post sorry it isn't more informative but I cant really think what to tell you apart from just have fun with it and experiment thats the best part.

Having received Adore, a NEXT perfume for Christmas I realised how familiar it smelled, it reminded me of amor amor which I love. DEFINE - Armani Remix & Armani She
LIVE LAUGH LOVE - Dkny Apple
EAU NUDE - CoCo Chanel Mademoiselle
DIAMOND - Miss Dior Cherie & Katie Price
JUST PINK - Chanel Chance & Curious Britney

Go try them for yourself their a really good price and I love my one.

DIY PRESENT TUTORIAL

This is a really simple DIY gift, I gave this to me friend as a moving in present.

What you need: an old chopping board, nails, a hammer, paint and coloured string.

Take your chopping board, I got mine in a charity shop for a pound and paint it whatever colour you want, I just used a tester pot I picked up in wilkinson's, also a pound.

When it's dry mark out a heart shape in pencil on the board. Hammer nails into the board at 1 - 2 cm increments. Leave 1cm of the nail still showing.

Tie the string to the far left nail and start threading evenly up and down moving left to right. Then continue threading the string horizontally until it all looks evenly gridded, I then added some random diagonal lines on top for more depth ( see picture for details ) tying the string to a nail tightly when I was finished.

Bang in the nails a tiny bit more so they look tidy and there you have it a pretty piece for their home or yours. I added hooks and string to the back of mine so I could hang it. I hope you enjoyed and let me know how you did if you tried this at home.

GREAT MAKEUP REMOVER

I am so impressed with this No7 beautiful skin eye makeup remover, having only used it for a few days I am just so amazed already. It effortlessly removes my makeup with the use of a cotton pad and leaves my skin feeling hydrated and nourished which is exactly what I need in these cold winter months. I can't get over how smooth its left my skin which is prone to dry patches. Using this to take my makeup off in the evening has made my makeup glide on in the morning so easily. Also with the £5 off vouchers they are giving away in boots at the moment you can pick this bad boy up for just £3.50.

I cannot recommend this enough, here is a link if you wanted to look more closely.

DINNER & COCKTAILS

Heading out for dinner with a friend then meeting up with everyone for some cocktails I should have been stumped for what to wear but I was really exited because I finally had a perfect situation to wear my new Lab tie-die chiffon shirt. My mum had bought this for me for Christmas and I'm so glad it got the recognition it deserved, matching it with a plain black vest dress from H&M, opaque tights and knee high wedged boots from New Look I managed to pull off the edgy natural ( if that's even a thing ). Hope you enjoyed.

I HEART TEA

Genuinely think I'm addicted, is that a bad thing? Having to have my tea fix every morning to put my makeup on. Every afternoon to get down to work and every evening snuggling down watching tv and every available moment in between. It's defiantly addiction but is it bad? I like to think not as I would hate to give up my nice hot fix. I think no sugar = no problem. Ha I've dedicated a whole post to tea, how English of me.

ABSTRACT & SLEEK NAIL ART

Having a quiet night in and what else are you supposed to do but paint each others nails...

Using the Miss Fancy Pants from Essie and two W7 nail polishes one in a gold glitter and the other in a very deep almost black plum colour. This design I just made up as I went along I wanted something sleek and abstract.

Taking Miss Fancy Pants as the base colour I layered on the plum in abstract lines, each nail being different. It was really easy (if you have a steady hand) and the outcome came together really nicely when i layered on the gold glitter in a similar way to the plum. This is a quick nail art tutorial that looks brilliant and doesn't need any tools except for a cotton bud to tidy up the outside of the nail afterwards.
I hope you enjoyed.

FAVOURITE PRODUCTS OF 2012 (Beauty)

Tried & Tested...

Having gotten really into Beauty this year and discovering so many new products I thought this would be a brilliant time to put the best of what I have discovered out there. This will be a 2 parter; first off makeup and then hair, skin and nails. Well diving strait in:

Foundation - No.7 Instant Radiance, Cool Ivory.
Concealer - Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection, No. 2.
Primer - W7 Prime Magic, Anti-redness.
Powder - Rimmel Stay Matte, No. 6 Warm Beige.
Blush - Natural Collection Blushed Cheeks, Dusky Pink.
Bronzer - Rimmel Natural Bronzer, No. 22 Sun Bronze.
Highlighter - Loreal Colour Appeal, no. 23 Golden Shimmer.
Brows - 17 Sculpting Brow, Dark Brown.
Eye Shadow - Sleek Shangri-la Collection Respect Pallet
Liquid Liner - Rimmel Glam Eyes liquid liner, Black.
Pencil Liner - Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl, 001 Black.
Mascara -Maybelline One By One Volum' Express, Black.
Lipstick - NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream, SMLC08 San Paulo.
Brush - RealTechniques Buffing Brush.

These are all of my Favourites so far. As you can see I mainly buy drug store items, hopefully that will change this year as I research alternatives and expand my makeup collection. Looking at the above products the main ones that stand out to me are the NYX lip creams, their staying power is incredible and the colour choice is varied. Another is the No.7 foundation, using this with the Buffing Brush is something that i could not live without, but I plan to dedicate a whole post to that in the future. The last one that really has been a staple for the whole year and I don't think there has been a day where I haven't worn it, is the Rimmel liquid liner. Its brilliant because the brush is so thin, the control you get is amazing, achieving the thinnest lines are so easy.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

A New Year and New Years Resolutions to think up and brush off...

However unlike every other resolution I've ever made such as, loosing that 8lbs, cutting out chocolate, going travelling and starting a diary, I plan for this one to last more than just into February. Its as you might of guessed to start a blog.

This blog is about me, Faye a 21 year old uni student studying graphic design. This blog is going to be about what I like and what inspires me, observations I make and things I experience. The main points of the blog I guess will be beauty, design, fashion, and my life as I finish uni, hopefully travel around America then come home and start life as a grown up. I really hope I can stick this out for more than the first month, I guess we'll find out.
